Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)
•Working under direct to moderate supervision, provides reporting and analytics on assigned projects of low complexity.
•Identifies potential sources of data and selects the appropriate data to meet business requirements.
•Working under direct to moderate supervision, extracts and prepares data to ensure the most complete, highest quality data is used.
•Develops knowledge and experience with relevant tools, technologies, and techniques to perform basic to moderate analyses.
•Begins utilizing quantitative and qualitative analysis to conduct primary and secondary research. Derives findings and advises recipients (e.g. business units) of potential impacts, options, and provides recommendations.
•Begins developing critical thinking skills used in understanding data, business concepts, and analytical concepts.
•Incorporates the use of data, where appropriate, to effectively communicate basic to moderate analytical and business concepts and content. Provides thoughtful and well researched insights on business and market conditions, trends, and opportunities along with insights on consumers, agencies, customers, and employees.
•Collaborates with partners to create data needed.

Required Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)
•Professional, analytical work experience with demonstrated ability to provide reporting and analytics of basic to moderate complexity.
•Demonstrated strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
•Knowledge of financial, statistical, and mathematical concepts used in business analysis (e.g., regression, correlation and covariance, multivariate analysis) including exposure to advanced statistical concepts (e.g. discrete event simulation, predictive analytics, data mining).
•Proficiency in two or more of the following software packages (or similar products): Excel, Cognos, SPSS, SAS, Tableau.

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)
•Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or related field or commensurate insurance experience.
•Previous insurance background or business data analysis background a plus.
•Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to distill and communicate technical and analytical materials to non-technical/non-analytical audience.
•Demonstrated interest and ability in expanding knowledge and skills.

Project Activity
Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst
oBusiness Intelligence Enhancements & Production Support
oCollaborates with business partners to understand business needs and translate needs to data, reporting, visualization and analytics requirements to impact business outcomes through data driven action
oCollaborates and work in the SAFe Agile construct as a member of a BI agile team; serves as the business and data SME throughout requirements, design, development and testing processes for execution of BI scope (e.g. new BI capabilities, enhancements, production defect resolution)
oUses relevant tools, technologies, and techniques to perform easy to moderate quantitative/qualitative analyses that assist with resolving BI production issues or defining BI business requirements. Derives findings and advises BI agile team and relevant stakeholders of impacts, options and recommendations as needed.
oUses relevant tools, technologies, and techniques to create mock-ups, wireframes and prototypes to assist the technical team in understanding how a business need should translate to the end solution (e.g. dashboard, visualization, report layout, OLAP)
oUtilizes business/insurance experience and quantitative rigor to provide detailed business scenarios and logic that support BI requirements and testing efforts
oAssists the team with Cognos/Tableau development as needed, based on team capacity, priority and complexity of development required
oPerforms User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and facilitates UAT with business partners as needed, to ensure proper business testing and solution alignment before new or enhanced capabilities are introduced to production

oBI Change Management & Communication
oDevelops training materials (e.g. job aids, videos, learning modules) to aid end-users in the use and adoption of new or enhanced BI capabilities
oLeads formal training sessions on Cognos/Tableau functionality or relevant BI content as needed
oCommunicates BI change notices and production issues to relevant stakeholders
oServes as a BI champion, promoting adoption of BI capabilities across the organization
oCollaborates with stakeholders to understand how BI capabilities are leveraged and ensure ongoing effective utilization of tools; understands BI capability usage data, leveraging it to aid stakeholder engagement
oSelf-Service Analytics Support & Development
oPartners with IT Team to understand and manage the Cognos and Tableau Server environments (e.g. content mgmt, security group mgmt)
oDevelops enterprise and business segment reports, scorecards and dashboards in Cognos/Tableau as business needs arise; assists other developers across the department to align on enterprise tools, processes and best practices
oServes as Cognos and Tableau Server subject matter expert to others developing content in both environments
