Description

• MS degree in anthropology, cognitive psychology, HCI, Human Factors, ergonomics, sociology, or related discipline and/or 5+ years hands-on experience conducting UX research with a focus on ethnographic methods in a product based setting
• Expertise in applying variety of UX, HCI, Human Factors, and Social Science research methods field observations, contextual inquiry, surveys, interviews, card sorts, concept/ feature testing, usability testing, etc.
• Envision state of the art solutions and identify new opportunities to improve users experience (UX) and overall delight of our platform in partnership with POs, designers, and others.
• Strong ethnographic (observational) research and data analytical skills - Working knowledge of behavioral analysis and statistics and principles of experimental design
• Coordinate and conduct appropriate user experience techniques to enable advanced product visions process including design, research and evaluation.
• Fearless when it comes applying UX research to unfamiliar and complex domains
• Educate and mentor business owners, product owners, and developers on the importance of UX principles.
• Remain current in UX-related research and developments. Investigate, evaluate and recommend new and emerging UX techniques, technologies, and methodology process improvements.
• Passionate, creative, open-minded, persistent and highly-collaborative mindset
• Work independently without assistance in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
• Analyze and present user evaluation results to a wide range of audiences.
• Excellent problem-solver Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
• Assist with the development and maintenance of personas.

Additional Info:
• The candidate will be using their human-centered design skillset to help create a deeper understanding about our product’s users in order to help drive internal product innovation. A typical day might include anything from observational studies in a corn field to writing up research plans to driving stakeholder understanding and alignment about the s of our users.
• Will work with scientists, business stakeholders and nearly anyone else involved within Monsanto’s Supply Chain product ecosystem.
• New opportunities have developed within the Operations technical platform for user centered research with the intention of using that research to help drive a more user focused product strategy on future products.
• This will mostly be located at North Campus with the occasional to work at any of the other St. Louis s from time to time.
• The candidate would be a member of the Product Design organization. This organization consists of over 40 UX designers, architects and researchers that form one of the biggest and most highly skilled UX teams in the St. Louis market. We are fun and laid back group of highly empathetic professionals who have been fighting for the users as a team for the last two years, in our current incarnation.
• Must be a driven self-starter who can operate largely without direction with a passion toward discovering who our users are and what they .
• This is a research . Understanding of the of design is important but artistic skills are far less important than skills that focus on ethnographic research and behavior analysis.
• This has the potential to convert if positions become available.
• Local candidates are preferred.
• Open to subcontractors.
• Interview process: Face-to-face. Interview will be conducted with the participation of 2-4 Product Design and Product Management leads. Candidate will present a short presentation (10 mins) and answer questions from the interview panel (50 mins).
• There is no education level required but Master’s degree candidates or candidates with at least 5 years of practical ethnographic research experience are preferrered.
• Certifications are a bonus.
